"He Was Real Sayin' Somethin' is a soul song written by the successful Motown songwriters Norman Whitfield, William "Mickey" Stevenson and Edward Holland, Jr. in 1964. In 1982, British girl group Bananarama recorded and released a cover version of the song. It was the lead single from their debut album Deep Sea Skiving. Fun Boy Three provided backing vocals, after having a hit with Bananarama earlier that year with another cover, "T'ain't What You Do (It's the Way That You Do It)".
