Pictures of Matchstick Men is the first hit single by Status Quo, released on January 5, 1968. For a long time I thought the song was by Camper van Beethoven. So wrong! Status Quo was in a psychedelic period then. After 1970 there is the switch to hard rock boogie in faded jeans.
